waiting for tsukiji to open

i was commissioned to photograph the tuna auction at tsukiji in tokyo.

i had to be there at 4am so my translator thought it would be a good idea
to stay up all night at a 24 hour restaurant nearby called jonathans.

it was a good idea, we grabbed a load of food and drink and chatted away
getting to know each other and talking about what was needed from the shoot.

in the booth behind us were a couple of girls who were also staying up to
visit the tuna auction.
perhaps wisely, they decided to catch some sleep while they were there.

in hindsight i should have done the same as later that day i overslept my
afternoon 'nap' and turned up 2 hours late for an evening out with friends !

grrr !
